David Kington

Biography:
Dave has 50 years’ experience in Fire Management/Land management in Forestry and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS), Brisbane City Council, Gold Coast City Council, and consultancy with Bushfire Risk Reducers and Vegetation Management Science. This work has included all aspects of planned burning, wildfire management, and landscape assessment/condition assessment, and wildfire investigations. Dave is also the author of the original QPWS Guide for Planned Burning and pilot for the QPWS Bioregional Guide for Planned Burning. Over the last ten years, Dave has worked on Minjerribah on invitation from Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation, working closely to help develop and deliver their Fire Management strategies as well as responding to wildfires occurring on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) and Mulgumpin (Moreton Island). Dave continues to work with Quandamooka, Kabi Kabi, Joondaburri, Githabul, Mununjali and others to expand fire management to look after country and manage a safer landscape.
