Dr Neil Burrows AFSM
Biography:
Dr Burrows worked as an applied bushfire scientist, science manager, and fire policy and planning advisor with the WA Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions and its predecessors for 42 years. He has participated in national and international science forums and reviews, has been an expert witness in coronial inquests and has contributed to bushfire enquiries in Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia. Since retiring from the public service in 2019, Dr Burrows remains active as a bushfire consultant. In recognition of his contribution to fire management, in 2020 he was awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal.
