WEBINAR | Managing deer in forestry settings
Wild and feral deer are growing rapidly in number and distribution, including in our forestry areas. Their impacts include browsing on seedlings, snapping saplings, and rubbing and ring-barking older trees.
Chaired by National Deer Management Coordinator, Dr Annelise Wiebkin, this interesting webinar will cover how deer are being managed in forestry settings, and some emerging state-of-the-art technologies that are helping to reduce related impacts.
Hear from Dr Myall Tarran (SA Feral Deer Program Manager) – following his well-received presentation at our 2024 Symposium – and Brett Conibear (Sako), as they speak to challenges and successes in managing deer from the air and ground in complex forestry terrains, with case studies from Victoria and South Australia. The webinar will also include perspectives ranging from large deer management programs to operational aspects at local scales, and highlight broader principles that can be applied to pest management more widely.
Whether you’re a grower, manager or interested professional, this webinar will have insights for the forestry sector as a whole. We look forward to hosting you.
