Upcoming Events in Victoria
SOCIAL NIGHT | The Victorian transition out of native timber harvesting and the associated reform program
About:
Victoria is home to an area of native forest larger than the entire land mass of Tasmania. The end of native timber harvesting on 1 January 2024 presents new opportunities to improve how we manage our forests, balancing recreation and tourism use with protecting our environment and supporting Traditional Owner self-determination.
Join a conversation with representatives from the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) about land management following the end of native timber harvesting, including self-determination by Traditional Owners, public consultation on future land tenures, integrated fire and forest management, and managing our forests under climate change.
