Career Events & Networking
Nobody can underestimate the importance of professional networks for developing your career and advancing ideas or projects in the workplace.
In recognising this, and the challenges that students and early-career professionals often face as new entrants to the workforce, the Future Foresters Initiative will provide platforms for students and early-career foresters to connect with others working across forest-related sectors. These events will also provide a platform to promote forestry as an exciting and diverse study and career pathway.
How we will do this:
- Career and networking nights;
- Establishing mentoring programs together with experienced foresters;
The 2017 IFA Conference (Cairns -QLD 14th - 17th Aug) brought together over 200 people working in forest industries, government, research and education institutions, not-for-profit organisations, conservation and many more, to discuss some of the most pressing and emerging issues facing tropical forest landscapes and industries in our Asia-Pacific region.
The Future Foresters Initiative (FFI) - the student and early career committee within the IFA - worked closely with the conference organising committee for the months leading up to the conference with the aim of creating opportunities for young and early career foresters to take on leadership roles within the conference, and to launch the IFA-FFI mentoring program.
