Ron Hateley Young Professional Award
Forestry Australia invites nominations for the Ron Hateley Young Professional Award, recognising individuals for their achievements in forest management. The purpose of the award is to show value and appreciation for the forest managers of the future, acknowledge the contribution of early career forest managers to their profession, and to recognise the leadership potential of young forest managers.
The award is named for the late Ron Hateley, who taught more than 30 years of budding forest managers at the Victorian School of Forestry in Creswick. Ron’s passion engaged students, and inspired a curiosity in forest ecology, history and silviculture and helped to shape the forest managers of the future.
To be eligible for the award, candidates must be less than 35 years old, either be working in a forest-related field in Australia or be an Australian working abroad, and nominated by peers or professional associates who believe the nominee is suitable for consideration. Each nomination should also be seconded by a peer or professional associate.
Nominees, or people making the nomination, do not have to be members of Forestry Australia.
